Anger is a disease. It is a cancer, because it has the ability to spread and kill everything good. Hate is an offspring of anger. Hate goes deeper than the emotion as it can ruin the soul of a person. Anger and hate are powerful emotions that evoke mental, physical and spiritual destruction. The need for self-control and love is no more prevalent in any situation, than when dealing with anger or hate.
The seeds of anger can be developed or created by a myriad of things including disappointment, irritations, annoyances, and frustration. Another interesting fact is that it can be easily transferred. The danger however, is that there is no assurance the next person who carries that original anger, can or will handle it the same. A majority of times the answer is no. Thus making the problem bigger and cancerous – killing everything that was once good.
Anger can create its own rejection and alienation of self. Because when close to someone, we eventually emote the anger within ourselves and transfer it, resulting in failed relationships, friendships, partnerships, and etc. Anger is an emotion that some are convinced is needed, as it can motivate action and give courage. But love is an emotion that can incite action, ecourage, healing, forgiveness and more without killing, hurting, or damaging anything or anyone.
Ephesians 4:31 “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”
Why?
James 1:20 “man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.”
We are commanded to love (John 13:34) because "it is to His glory to overlook an offense (Prov. 19:11)."
Anger is a natural feeling. It’s not wrong to be angry. But the Bible instructs us several times over of the need for self-control, wisdom and love when we experience anger.“ Love is patient, love is kind…[love] bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4). Love is not naïve but even when it hurts, love brings life and not death.
